On July 7 and 8 the community centers’ opening ceremonies took place in three WFD beneficiary villages – in Tsoghamarg, Arpeni and Torosgyugh. Community centers were fully renovated and equipped in the frames of “Community mobilization through increasing participation, healthy lifestyle and peace education in Armenia” through financial assistance of “Global Fund for Women” and EED /Germany/.
Municipalities of the above mentioned villages have largely contributed in terms of proving a suitable space and assisting WFD. After cutting the red ribbon community members had a chance to view the fully renovated and equipped centers. Warm smiles and words of gratitude were heard from presents, which marked the successful start of the project.
Gohar Markosyan, the WFD president, greeted and congratulated the people present on having such cozy and bright community centers. She presented the mission and activities of the organization, summarized the aim of this project, spoke about planned trainings, meetings and other activities. Participants held active discussions on the current problems in the villages, difficulties and needs. Gohar Markosyan was sure that these centers will help brisk up the difficult and monotonous daily life in the villages, will promote capacity building among youth, especially young girls and women, will contribute community mobilization and development.
