“Financial Sustainability and Fundraising Practices of Civil Society Organizations in Eastern Europe”, Tbilisi, Georgia

Regional Conference “Financial Sustainability and Fundraising Practices of Civil Society Organizations in Eastern Europe” was held on September 29-30, 2010, in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Conference was organized in the framework of EED project “Dialogue and Capacity Building for EED partners in the South Caucasus through Seminars, Exchange and Consultations”. The major aim of the conference was to assist the South Caucasian partner organizations in studying experience of their counterparts from Eastern Europe and initiate a reflection on strategies for financial sustainability of CSOs in three Caucasian countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia). CSOs in the Eastern European countries have accumulated certain experience for smooth transition from international to domestic funding. There have been developed some institutional mechanisms supporting the CSOs financial sustainability.

seminar_georgiaThe conference was aimed to introduce some of the experiences and mechanisms functioning in different Eastern European countries and help local CSOs to identify the best practice examples best suiting to the reality of their country and society. 
Our country was represented by Karen Nazaryan, Executive Director of Armenia Round Table Foundation, Hayk Minassyan, President of “Shen” NGO, Levon Nersisyan, Director A.D.Sakharov Armenian Human Rights Centre, Anaida Allakhverdyan, Executive Director of “Education for Sustainable Development Foundation – ESDF”, Mary Sargsyan, Programme Manager of “Syunik” Charity NGO, and Gohar Markosyan, President of WFD.
