A Letter from our partners in Belgrade

16.04.2020

Today we received a very heartfelt and at the same time inspiring letter from Marija Cornik, a high school teacher and psychologist from Sveti Sava school in Belgrade. WFD NGO members got acquainted with her in December 2019 in frames of the visit to Serbia.

The goal of the visit was the joint project by WFD NGO and Nansen Dialogue Center, which envisaged exchange of experience in Peace education between the partner organizations / see the link for the details of the meeting /.

In her letter Marija expressed her concern on the events in the world, noting that she is equally concerned about both Serbia and Armenia, expressing hope that it will end as soon as possible and that we will all have the opportunity to return to our normal lives.

According to Marija, the joint meeting made very warm impression on her and the high school students, and after it on their own initiative they started to study the history of Armenia, its culture, arts, etc. While studying the theme “Globalization”, the students draw parallels between Armenia and Serbia and came to the conclusion that the preservation of culture and national values is very important, especially for small states. Attached to the letter, Marija sent some pictures from the lessons devoted to Armenia, noting that unfortunately because of the state of emergency declared in the country they didn’t manage to complete all the planned topics and now they are planning to do so in a distant way.

Dear Marija, we are very pleased by your sincere words, as well as by the wonderful initiative, which is really very inspiring. We are also following the current developments in the world and are concerned about the health and safety of all our partners. We are sure that very soon we all will overcome this challenge and will continue our fruitful collaboration.

Warm greetings to you all from Armenia.
