October 2017 “Women for Development” NGO (WFD NGO) undertakes to hold International Conference on Peace Education for Peacebuilding in Gyumri
The goal of the Conference is to present to the international community and organizationsWFD’s great experience and achievements in the field of Peace Education, share the “Armenian model” of integrating Peace Education into school curriculum and the mechanisms of institutionalizing it, as well as their experience of establishing effective collaboration between the government and a non-governmental organization.
Conference will enable the participants from different countries to present their experiences and best practices gained in peace education in their own countries. The two-day trainings organized before the Conference will allow the students, researchers, teachers from different parts of the world to improve their skills in peace education, share best practices and knowledge, exchange with educational projects, approaches, evaluation tools, establish ties among the specialists and organizations from different countries.
During the 2 days of the Conference peace activists, politicians invited from different countries, international organizations and embassy representatives accredited in Armenia, well-known state and public figures will address their speech on the importance of peace building in the region.
One of the main objectives of the Conference is alsoto draw the international community’s attention to the issues of peace, while presentation of the necessity of upbringing a new generation bearing peace culture in all the countries of the region and in the world in general is one of the possible versions of their solution.
It is planned to invite about 15 keynote speakers from different parts of the world.
WFD NGO needs about 35 000 EURO for organizing this conference. Besides private financial means, the NGO hopes to procure the necessary amount from various international donor organizations, foundations, as well as individuals who value peace and wish to bring their small investment to the expansion of Peace and Peacebuilding.
