“CONTACT” Summer Peacebuilding Program-2017

WFD NGO employees Ani Simonyan and Arpine Nikolyan shared their newly gained knowledge and skills in the field of peacebuilding with their co-workers. The latter participated in Conflict Transformation Across Cultures (CONTACT) Summer Peacebuilding program on 5-27 June, 2017. The 3-week intensive training took place at SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont.

The main topics covered during the training referred to conflict, violence and peace; basic skills in conflict analysis and peacebuilding practice; identity and conflict; reconciliation; global conflict, etc. and were taught and facilitated by the skillful and competent professors of the SIT.

30 participants from 15 different countries attended the training.
Ani and Arpine also visited National Association for Armenian Studies and Research in Boston, where they learnt about the center’s patriotic activities related mainly to the translation and worldwide dissemination of the literature and articles on the Armenian Genocide. They donated WFD NGO the volumes of western Armenian writer-activist Zabel Yesayan translated into English by the initiative of Judyth Saryan and a group of women and published by Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA). The initiative aims to spread the works of the western Armenian women writers not only among the Armenian but also among the foreign readers.
Ani Simonyan and Arpine Nikolyan could attend this wonderful training in the US due to the financial support of SIT Graduate Institute in Vermont, AGBU organization and Women for Development NGO.
