Similar to other communities of Shirak region, winters in Krashen are rather long /up to 5-6 months/. Agriculture is the main source of income and occupation, which largely depends on weather conditions. There are 18 people employed within the community (medical point, school and municipality).

The active group of young volunteers is especially worth mentioning in Krashen.
Despite the interest and large number of children, there is no kindergarten in the community.
This is why the community center volunteers initiated special activities for preschool children within the community center (est. in 2008).
Volunteers of the community have established a library within the community center. They formed reading, healthy lifestyle, dance and youth clubs, which has brought a little livelihood into the village.
WFD has worked with community members to develop Krashen strategy plan for 2013-2014.
Some of the problems in Krashen are similar to the issues in other communities.
But there are also other problems: there is no church and regular church service in Krashen, which resulted in increase of different sects. This is one problem we do not have in any of our beneficiary communities. People believe that regular church service will help to fight various sects. Gasification and garbage collection are another priority problems in Krashen.
