Small grants project review and approval committee meeting

In the frames of the project “Rural community development and peacebuilding through peace education” 2014 – 2016, being implemented by the NGO “Women for Development”, a call for small grants project proposals was announced for the project beneficiary 4 communities – Torosgyugh, Lanjik, Arpeni and Tsoghamarg. The first meeting of the selection committee took place on December 19, 2014 in WFD office in Gyumri.

The President of the NGO WFD Gohar Markosyan opened the meeting. She greeted the participants of the meeting and reminded that in November each community was suggested to submit 1-2 project proposals. The proposed projects should be directed to the community development. Another requirement to the project proposals was their correspondence to the issues raised in the communities’ strategic development plans.

The members of the project selection committee were heads of the project beneficiary communities – Torosgyugh, Arpeni and Tsoghamarg, Lanjik school director, 2 independent experts – director of Shirak Competitiveness Center G. Avagyan and director of “Local Democracy Agency” Armenia Foundation L. Aleksandryan. WFD NGO Project Coordinator A. Shiroyan and Financial Officer Y. Petrosyan were also included in the Committee.

Representatives of the communities presented to the Committee the projects designed by them, and after discussion the proposals were ranked by the Committee members according to the specially elaborated criteria.

In the result 4 project proposals were approved by the Committee, getting the highest scores.

They are:

“Community Garden”- Torosgyugh

“Our Community is Our Home 2 stage” – Arpeni

“Changing the daily life of rural children” – Lanjik

“Renovation of the Public House” – Tsoghamarg

The deadline for the implementation of the projects is May 30, 2015.
